    Yosemite Valley 2010

Spent July 4th at Yosemite for 2010. We had a cabin in Yosemite West, and did a number of hikes around Yosemite Valley. We did a number of hikes including Yosemite Falls on Day 1. Mirror Lake, Vernal Falls, and Nevada Falls on Day 2. And finally Glacier Point on Day 3. Entrance fee to the park was $20 a car (but lasts a full 7 days). Follow is a short description and our experience of each major...

Had the opportunity to go whitewater rafting in Coloma (near Sacramento, California). A group of seven friends met at Mariah Wilderness Expeditions for a half day trip (~$100/person) on the South Fork of the American River. The most intense rapid along the route is a Class 3.

After meeting at 12:00 noon, after a quick 30 minute on-land introduction, and a even quicker 15 minute on-water practice, we were ready to head down the river. The three most intense rapids (all class 3) were named Satan’s Cesspool, Hospital Bar, and Recovery Room. A unique rapid is called Bouncing Rock, where the raft More >

In June of 2010, we spend around approximately one week at the Disney World resort in Orlando Florida. Over the next few logs, I plan to overview my Disney World experience. To start, there were three of us on this trip. I myself have visited before when I was very young. My girlfriend who has never been to Disney World. And our mutual friend who is a much more frequent visitor.

To start, a few months before our flight from San Francisco to Orlando, Disney mailed one “Magical Express” luggage tags per person for checked bags. To keep it simple, once More >

Muir Woods in California

I spent a partial day of Memorial Weekend 2010 in Muir Woods National Monument. This is not my first time visiting a redwood forest, but seeing the magnificence of these trees is a experience not to be missed.

We drove into Mill Valley and stopped at a free parking lot to catch the Route 66 Muir Woods Shuttle. It costs a mere $3 per person for a round trip bus ride. A downside of the shuttle is the bus schedule may limit the amount of time you can stay at the park, as the last shuttle out of the park does More >

This weekend, Grace and I had the chance to try Morocco’s Restaurant in San Jose with our friend Jared. Given it was a wet Easter Sunday, there were only a 3 or 4 other groups in the restaurant. Since the streets were near empty, street parking was easy to find. There is also a huge parking garage across the street. Inside the restaurant, there was soft chatter of other diners over a live musician playing (what I believed to be Moroccan music) with a recorded track. The restaurant’s decor was well thought out. Everything from the fully decorated walls to the tent-like More >
